Deepfakes can be incredibly disturbing if you think about it, but we’ll focus on the fun they let us have until things get more real.
Providing all the deepfake merriment, we have the Tom Cruise videos first seen on TikTok, and the one with Robert Downey Jr., Ewan McGregor, Jeff Goldblum, and again – Tom Cruise.
The Step Brothers deepfake has been a favourite for a while now, but this Harry Potter version featuring famous American actors is honestly too good not to take centre stage.
While The Office is arguably the only successful American remake of a British classic, this deepfake trailer that reimagines the multi-billion-dollar franchise with an all-star US cast may also have turned out well.
The cast is honestly perfect, as per Yahoo!:
Morgan Freeman as Dumbledore? Absolutely yes. Meryl Streep as McGonagall? Give her the Oscar now! Matthew McConaughey as Olivander? Alright, alright, alright with me.
The hypothetical cast gets better, with Keanu Reeves playing Sirius Black, Bob Odenkirk playing Lupin, Michael Cera as Quirrell, and Samuel L. Jackson as Mad-Eye Moody.
Even Seth Rogen and Melissa McCarthy get thrown in as Arthur and Molly Weasley.
Although some might be of the opinion that Nicolas Cage isn’t deserving of his spot in this video, as he hasn’t delivered a great performance in a while, his deepfake for He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named might give the “Cage rage” memes a comeback.
Let’s have a look, then shall we?
Anyway, this might just be enough to inspire Warner Bros. to make a proper version, using the real actors instead of their deepfakes.
My hands are up for yes, yes, please.
