Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is not having an easy time of late, with critics taking aim at many of his policies, as well as accusing him of being disingenuous with his feminist and anti-racism stance.
It never helps when an old photo crops up of you wearing ‘blackface’, but we’ll leave that for another day.
Instead, let’s focus on a photo from the Liberal Party’s website, on the ‘Team Trudeau Training’ section.
That’s the photo above, with the PM happily clicking away on his MacBook.
Except, reports VICE, that’s not a MacBook:
Upon closer inspection, though, it’s clear the Apple logo is just a sticker, covering up a decidedly less cool Hewlett-Packard logo.
The charging cable, also visible, is black, not white, and shaped differently than the standard square Apple charger.
Not a good look, and many conservatives were quick to lay into Trudeau.
I’ll include this tweet here, due in large part to the reply from Dan Cameron:

You don’t have to live like that.
May I remind you that Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer, runs great specials on Apple goodies, and you can also trade in your old devices (most brands of smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, as well as Apple TVs, laptops, and desktop computers) to score discounts on new purchases.
Look, a new MacBook Air 13” M1 Chip going for R17 999 – sorted.
That way, you won’t have to plonk a sticker on your laptop to hide your shame.
When pressed about why Trudeau was using a laptop with said sticker, Liberal Party spokesperson Braeden Caley said the phoney MacBook doesn’t actually belong to the PM:
“It’s a volunteer laptop that Justin Trudeau borrowed for a moment in the volunteer hub…when he dropped by to thank volunteers virtually,” Caley said on Tuesday.
VICE did some snooping around on Trudeau’s Facebook page, and found this image of his home office:
Good to see that he has decent taste in technology in and around the home.
Maybe he can have a word with somebody about setting those volunteers up with a deal or two.
