On June 7, 2018, Henri van Breda was handed three life sentences by Western Cape High Court Judge Siraj Desai.
Van Breda was found guilty of the triple murder of his parents, Martin and Teresa, as well as his brother, Rudi.
Marli van Breda, Henri’s sister, survived the attack on January 27, 2015, with Henri also found guilty of her attempted murder.
The story gripped South Africa, and the world, and now it’s the subject of a new podcast from True Crime South Africa.
TimesLIVE reports below:
In part 1 of our episode on the Van Breda family murders, True Crime South Africa looks at the family’s background and some of the alleged events of that day. We also take a better look at the much-talked-about audio clip of Henri allegedly laughing on his emergency call — with interesting results.

Part two is also out now, summarised by TimesLIVE as follows:
In Part 2, True Crime South Africa will delve into the probability of this claim. Much had been made of the likelihood of anyone being able to successfully breach the perimeter of the De Zalze estate, but few seem to have considered there were already hundreds of people inside that perimeter that morning because they lived there.

In part three, the story of the physical evidence left behind at the scene will be told.
