You have to earn the name Nature’s Valley, and the small village along the Garden Route has certainly done that.
Around 30 kilometres from Plett, it’s a truly beautiful area pretty much in the heart of the Tsitsikamma forest, with miles of unspoilt beaches and a lagoon estuary to boot.
According to SA Venues, Nature’s Valley has only one shop and no banks, and there are roughly 50 permanently occupied homes in the area.
We snooped on Property24 and found three listings for homes in Nature’s Valley, the cheapest of which is just a tick under R6 million.
The most expensive of the three is a four-bedroom house listed for R6,75 million, so let’s have a gander.
Here’s the write-up, with some images thrown in for good measure:
This spacious north facing brick house is situated 150 metres to the beach and walking distance to the restaurant and café. The house comprises two bedrooms and a bathroom on both the ground level and on the first level…
There is a sun room and cosy fireplace in the living room to enjoy on chilly days. The garden is low maintenance and fully fenced.
Bordering the extra large double garage is another room which can be utilised as a fifth bedroom/ study or storage area.
Pop some fruit on those bird feeders and you’re all but guaranteed to have the Knysna turacos visit (or loeries, if you’re old school).
The listing also says that unlike the rest of the Garden Route, Nature’s Valley cannot expand due to its geographical layout.
Rest easy in the fact that it won’t turn into the next Paternoster.
If you get tired of the other Nature’s Valley residents, you could always swing past the restaurant and watch the groups come in as they finish the Otter Trail.
One restaurant, one shop, and apparently a dearth of skilled property photographers in the area:
