Quinton de Kock has never been all that comfortable speaking in front of a camera.
That’s just one of the reasons why appointing him Proteas skipper was seen by many as an odd decision, but he’s now been relieved of those duties and can focus on doing what he does best – ‘see the ball, hit the ball’.
He’s also the face of a new rhino conservation campaign, and we’re seeing a different side to him.
In order to raise awareness for Rockwood Conservation, a 30 000-acre rhino reserve between the Great Karoo and the Kalahari Desert, Quinny has starred in a pretty entertaining video.
More from Good Things Guy:
Rockwood and Quinton are collaborating in an exciting and fun way to drive awareness and funding towards guarding and protecting the rhinos at Rockwood. This enables them to breed and increase their herd numbers, bringing them ever closer to getting off the critically endangered list.
This work is performed against the backdrop of extreme challenges, the worst of which is poaching. A cruel and senseless act that results in some of the largest national parks in South Africa losing more than 50% of their rhino herds.
Before we get too grim and go down that path, let’s enjoy the video, complete with some bloopers and a bumpy ride or two:
Yeah, I enjoyed that.
Tickets cost R100 a pop, or 15 for R1 000 (you can buy them here), and the winner and their three guests will be living it up:
There will also be sundowner safaris, gourmet dinners, campfire tales at the boma, and challenging Quinny to a round of clay pigeon shooting.
I can think of worse ways to spend four nights.
According to the Rockwood page, entries close on June 27, with the winner to be announced ‘around June 28’. The trip itself will take place in August of this year.
