Netflix has managed to come out as being the winner when you look at the two-year auction deal that has taken place for the US right to stream. This is going to be done for any Sony Pictures that may be released and this is going to start in 2022. It would seem that Netflix is also going to be spending a lot of time dealing with an unspecified number of older titles as well.

These are going to be pulled from the vault for Sony. Sony’s paid TV partner has been Starz for quite some time. Lionsgate has owned them since the year 2006. The theatrical deal that is being output with Netflix actually only covers the US. It’s believed that this is going to run for around five years and it’s going to be worth hundreds of millions in the long run.

Industry sources have stated that they are in fact working with one another to ensure that there’s going to be no issues with licensing when it comes to the Netflix agreement that they have put in place.

Netflix and their Sony Deal

It’s very interesting to see how Netflix and Sony have emerged as being top contenders in the movie industry. When you look at Sony, you will see that they once put out a lot of their movies on DVD as this was the only way to get it out to their target audience. In this day and age, however, digital streaming is the way forward and that is why they are utilising Netflix as much as possible. At the end of the day, it would seem that Sony Pictures are a fantastic partner and they are thrilled to have stated that they are going to expand the relationship even more. They have this new agreement and they have also stated that there are very bright times ahead for everyone involved. This gives them the chance to really delve into the beloved franchise and they have also stated that it is a new source of movies for those who are a fan of the streaming platform. The deal is going to help them to open up a pay-one agreement. The deal is going to be set so Netflix will pay a fee for every single movie. This fee is going to be decided on the domestic box office rating or the worldwide box office rating.

Netflix has stated that this is going to be a major deal to say the least and that it’s going to really showcase everything that the industry is capable of. 

The streaming industry has really taken off over the years and now there are going to be even more advancements taking place too.
