Every so often, you see a video of a bushveld encounter that you know is truly out of the ordinary.

Lions and leopards doing battle over a kill is nothing too unusual, but to witness that battle playing out in the upper branches of a tree certainly is.

Then you add into the mix that a branch snapped, sending the duelling cats tumbling to the ground, and you have a genuinely astonishing sighting.

Shared by popular YouTube account Kruger Sightings, after being granted permission by @sandra_l_ab, the encounter took place in Londolozi:

A leopard was up a tree, eating, and a pride of nearby lions could smell something was up.

They explored the area until they found the Leopard and its food.

One lioness decided to try and get to the meat, but the Leopard put up a fight!

It certainly did, before both came crashing down:

After multiple viewings, and the slow-motion replay, I have concluded that both landed on their feet, before the leopard beat a very hasty retreat.

Whilst we slog away at our desks, I hope this cracking bushveld showdown brings a little joy to your day.
