If one had to choose a superpower, I think most of us would choose to fly.
Who doesn’t want that feeling of absolute freedom and limitlessness?
Okay, some people would choose invisibility, but we don’t want to hear or think about their reasons.
Drone technology has allowed us to fly in ways previously unheard of, and as the technology reaches new heights, so do the resultant videos that give us a whole new perspective on the world, especially when they involve FPV.
For those not in the know, FPV stands for ‘first-person view’ and involves strapping on a headset for an immersive, real-time view of the drone’s flight via its front-facing camera.
We showed you some excellent drone footage of a volcano erupting and added a tour of a bowling alley and movie theatre in there too. That tour of the bowling alley and movie theatre came to you from Sky Candy, and they’ve just released another stunner.
The bowling alley footage was captured by drone pilot Jay Christensen, who also recorded that latest video of the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Take it in:
As per Digital Trends, Christensen has gotten high praise from Hollywood for his drone skills:
Lee Unkrich, director of the award-winning 2017 movie Coco, described the video [of the bowling alley] as “one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen,” while Todd Vaziri, a visual effects artist who’s worked on the Stars Wars movies and a string of other major hits, commented, “This kind of wonderful photographic innovation adds to the language and vocabulary of cinema. Just beautiful.”
Keen to see what other drone pilots have captured over the past year or so?
Say no more.
Here’s a video from August last year by Benoit Finck, who was awarded for this epic cinematic effort, which captures the serene beauty of Mont-Saint-Michel, an island in Normandy, France featuring a 16th-century castle:
Here’s another from January last year by Johnny FPV taking us on a mind-blowing exterior tour of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai – the worlds tallest building:
This is a beautiful adventure through the landscape of Madeira – an island off the northwest tip of Africa -shot by Ellis van Jason (on YouTube since October 2020):
Care to chase a roller coaster? Viggo Koch has got you with his video from 2019:
And because it is almost the weekend, and it’s safer to social distance, we will let you live vicariously through the footage of a house party (albeit from May 2020) shot by Robert McIntosh:
Mind. Blown.
