Police are on the hunt for what looks to be a group of four men who shot down the wheels of a car on the N4 in Gauteng on Friday, stealing a cool R450 000 in cash in the process.
What these highway robbers didn’t realise at the time was that the car they stole from had a dashcam that captured footage of the dramatic robbery, with the video now doing the rounds on social media.
The footage shows the suspects firing from a white BMW before searching the vehicle and running away with the bag of cash.
That is all that anyone knows for now, as they were wearing balaclavas.
Here’s more from News24:
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Senzo Mculu said the gang shot out all four wheels on the victim’s car, forcing him to stop.
The motorist and passenger quickly escaped as the heavily armed suspects approached the vehicle and searched it.
Mculu said that they then took R450 000 from the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
“None of the victims sustained injuries, but were taken for shock treatment. All suspects were wearing balaclavas and victims will not be able to identify them,” he said.
It’s believed that the men who were robbed, two businessmen, were transporting the cash after making a large withdrawal
Here’s the whole scene:
Thank goodness the businessmen weren’t left for dead, and hopefully, investigators will be able to bring the criminals to justice.
