According to some reports, Harry Kane will ask to leave Tottenham Hotspur (or Spurs to football fans) if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
That seems unlikely, given that they’re six points off West Ham in fourth, with seven league matches to go, but good luck getting club chairman Daniel Levy to part with Harry for anything less than silly money.
Whilst Harry’s association with the club has been a lengthy one, Dulux Paint, Spurs’ latest sponsor, almost had a very short stay.
The club announced the new deal via its Twitter account:
We are delighted to announce @duluxuk, the nation’s number one paint brand, as our first ever Official Paint Supplier.#THFC ⚪ #COYS

As did Dulux:
It’s the perfect match – Dulux has become the first ever Official Paint Supplier to football giant Tottenham Hotspur!

However, in response to some replies under the tweet, the official Dulux account started taking the piss out of Spurs.
The tweets have since been deleted, but screenshots live forever:
A touch unkind to the Spurs defence, but then attention turned to Spurs’ long wait for a trophy.
The club has not won a major title since 2008, when they lifted the League Cup.
Here’s the real kicker:
Great fun if you’re mocking a rival club to get fans on board as the new sponsor, but really, really questionable when you’re tearing the club you sponsor a new one.
After the tweets were deleted, Dulux offered an apology, and everybody decided to play nice with some awful puns:
Glad we’ve brushed that one over

Spurs then posted a meme of their own, attempting to show that everything is cool and we should all move along:

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho was asked about the affair, reports Sky News, and offered this response:
“I don’t know what you are speaking about but maybe it is an amazing strategy move,” he said.
“But in any case, it is not a football-related thing and I don’t know.”
This is the first time he hasn’t thrown his players under the bus (which he parked) in months.
Much like Mourinho when the season is up, I think the social media manager for Dulux may be looking for a new job.
