Quite Impressive – Stuck Suez Canal Ship On Microsoft Flight Simulator [Video]

If you’re bored of looking at the same old visuals of that ship in the Suez Canal, you can now do a flyby in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The ever-stuck Ever Given container ship has, after almost a week lodged across the Suez Canal, been somewhat freed and re-floated.

The backend of the vessel has been dislodged, according to a message from the Suez Canal Authority, declaring victory.

Before you mourn the end of the memes, or head on over to say a fond farewell via that real-time tracking visual, per TIME, Peter Berdowski, chief executive officer of Boskalis Westminster, says that things aren’t as under control as they seem.

“We need to be realistic and that is that the stem of the ship is still very much stuck,” said Peter Berdowski, chief executive officer of Boskalis Westminster, the parent company of the salvage team.

“Putting the rear end of the ship afloat was the easy part,” he said to Dutch NPO Radio…

“The challenging part will be the front of the ship. Now, we will start working at the front.”

Cool, we’ll leave them to it, because there’s a far more entertaining way to check out the ship.

The good people over at The Verge came across a mod (short for modified, or modification) of Microsoft Flight Simulator, placing the grounded vessel within the virtual Earth of the game.

It was originally uploaded by someone who goes by donut_enforcement on TikTok

Twitter user Mat Velloso shared that video, which features a flyby of the container ship with some pretty convincing pilot narration.

Lovely.

Of course, there would be nothing stopping Microsoft Flight Simulator developer Asobo from updating the visuals in the game, but donut_enforcement just did the work for them.

You can keep up to speed with the latest developments from the Suez Canal here.
