I think South Africans need to unite, take a stand, and push for four-day workweeks.
They’re about to give it a bash in Spain, and some companies in New Zealand are trying it out at the moment.
Perhaps then every Thursday would bring with it that ‘already?’ feeling.
We’re nearing the weekend, and for some that means letting loose, which brings us to this week’s throwback.
Does the name Corey Worthington ring a bell? If not, you surely recognise that picture above, right?
Let’s tee things up with the help of Thrillist:
In 2008, Corey Worthington threw an epic party in Australia, one in which the police were called after attendees damaged neighbors’ property and, eventually, police cars themselves, all while Corey’s parents were out of town.
When a local newscaster interviews him for a story, Corey does virtually everything right to cement his legacy as a folk hero: Sporting Pokémon-yellow hair poking out from under a trucker hat, he wears a jacket with no shirt underneath, and yellow-rimmed sunglasses.
Not a shred of remorse was shown, and that cemented Corey’s place in internet infamy:
According to the trivia section for the IMDb listing of Project X, the movie is loosely based on Corey’s party.
You’ve definitely left a mark when a Hollywood movie based on your jol takes in more than $100 million in worldwide box office ticket sales.
Naturally, Corey is on social media, although both his Facebook page and Instagram account have been pretty quiet of late.
Here’s a post on the latter from November 2019:
