That Time Piers Morgan Was Called A ‘Honey-Glazed Gammon’ [Videos]

After some Twitter jousting, Piers invited Scottish Parliament member Ross Greer on his show, thinking he would score an easy victory. That didn't go to plan.

It’s been an eventful week for Piers Morgan.

Things started off rather well, with Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview providing the ammunition he needed to unleash all of his post-‘ghosting’ animosity.

In fact, he was so full of vitriol that one of his Good Morning Britain co-presenters even called him out, leading to a snowflake-esque storming off the set live on air.

Piers then quit the show altogether, which led to a #BringBackPiers campaign, although that was soon hijacked by fans of actual piers, as in the seaside structures.

The increased scrutiny of Piers’ on-air behaviour has led to a few clips from years gone by resurfacing, including one where he was called a ‘honey-glazed gammon’.

‘Gammon’, according to Urban Dictionary, is a “collective noun for white, middle-aged, furious-faced men who are heavily concentrated in the vast reaches of England’s Brexit heartlands”.

A little background via UPROXX before we go to the clip:

To recap a bit, Piers started jousting with Parliament member Ross Greer in early 2019 over the MP’s characterization of Winston Churchill as “a white supremacist mass murderer.” To that notion, the morning show host tweeted, “And you’re a thick ginger turd who’d be spewing this filth in German if it wasn’t for Churchill.”

Their bickering went back and forth on Twitter, before Greer agreed to appear on Good Morning Britain to chat with Piers.

The host thought he would have an easy win on his hands, but Greer came prepared:

It’s true – Winston Churchill has a very lengthy list of racist quotes.

Later on in the interview, after shouting at Greer, Piers misheard his guest’s response, and further embarrassed himself:

Arms folded, and his poor co-host unable to point out his obvious error – classic Piers.

All in all, it was a very public humiliation, broadcast live around the UK.

You can watch their exchange in full here.

While we’re walking down memory lane, how about the time Piers tried to belittle Love Island’s Hayley Hughes by asking her about the Pythagorean theorem.

Cool story, except he confused it with Pi, or π for the purists:

I agree that Love Island is pointless, especially the South African version, but he’s been made to look a right fool there.

Finally, let’s not forget how we arrived at this point.

Piers has been a massive doos for decades, and although he had recently gained some respect back for his no-nonsense approach to interviews with the likes of UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Sarah Palin, he seems incapable of letting past slights slide.

I would consider this the perfect encapsulation of his gradual descent into Meghan hater par excellence:

“Not bitter, just sad.”

Move on, man.

Your life will be infinitely better for it.
