Hello, Thursday, and not a moment too soon.
Looks like we made it through the worst of the weather here in Cape Town, although I rather enjoyed the sideways rain pissing down.
Earlier in the week, we reminisced about those famous Boet & Swaer ads, which clearly served as inspiration for a Mochachos commercial.
That got us thinking about some classics from years gone by, and they don’t come much more famous than the VW Memories advert.
If you so much as hum the words ‘I remember, the days of my life’, there’s a decent chance somebody in the vicinity can pick things up with ‘I recall the faces, mostly yours’.
Let’s finish strongly – ‘this is my life, and I’m passing on the memories”.
No, you’re getting emotional.
Take it away, nostalgia:
A real pearler.
For those who don’t know, the man behind the music is Andre de Villiers.
Over the course of a prolific career stretching back to the late 1960s with jazz/rock band, Hammak, he’s released multiple albums.
There’s no doubting which is his most famous song, though – here he is live in concert at the Baxter Theatre:
You can see all of Andre’s latest music via his YouTube channel.
Well, that’s your Thursday trip down memory lane sorted.
As you were.
