The ‘Kiss Cam’ has always been a fan favourite, especially in the US, and often leads to rather awkward exchanges.
For obvious reasons, as the NBA prepares to welcome larger crowds back to basketball games, the ‘Kiss Cam’ isn’t really an option.
At Fiserv Forum, where the Milwaukee Bucks play their home games, they’re letting about 1 800 fans in per match, with the aim of steadily increasing that number as it becomes safer to do so.
A smaller crowd means less of a vibe, so in order to keep fans entertained during breaks in play, somebody thought it was a bright idea to roll out the ‘Hand Sanitiser Cam’.
In theory, this sounds harmless, but when you throw in the graphics – well, see for yourself:
The music isn’t exactly helping.
You’re not the only one thinking it:
Somehow the Hand Sanitizer Cam at NBA games is hornier than the Kiss Cam pic.twitter.com/KmmBtKCOfF

After the graphics were widely ridiculed online, Bucks Chief Communications Officer Barry Baum released a statement saying that the ‘Hand Sanitiser Cam’ would be discontinued, but other plans were afoot.
This from The JS Online:
“The health and safety of our fans at Fiserv Forum is of the utmost importance, so we try to create fun ways to engage the audience about awareness,” Baum said…
“We have already presented the handwashing cam and the elbow-bumping cam, and will continue to feature new interactive elements this season.”
I think I’ll pass, but those in attendance should count themselves fortunate to be able to watch their teams in action.
We’re about to have the British & Irish Lions tour relocated to the UK, so these Yanks don’t know how good they’ve got it.
