From Meghan’s alleged ‘social climbing’ to just about anything else that he can have a go at, Piers Morgan has built a career on being outraged.
Last year in an interview with The Guardian, he provided a few examples of this, including the “fascist transgender lobby, who won’t accept that trans women are different from biological women”.
His current target on this issue is US President Joe Biden and his ‘Executive Order on Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation‘.
In the order, Biden states that:
Discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation manifests differently for different individuals, and it often overlaps with other forms of prohibited discrimination, including discrimination on the basis of race or disability.
He provides an example, saying that “transgender Black Americans face unconscionably high levels of workplace discrimination, homelessness, and violence, including fatal violence”.
Here’s the part that inspired Piers’ latest Daily Mail rant:
Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports.
Adults should be able to earn a living and pursue a vocation knowing that they will not be fired, demoted, or mistreated because of whom they go home to or because how they dress does not conform to sex-based stereotypes.
Piers would like everyone to know that he’s supposedly a trans activist before he launches his attack on Biden.
Let me be very clear for those already charging to have me summarily cancelled for my ‘transphobia’: I support the right of all trans people to be treated equally in every way and have loudly said so for many years.
I refer you back to the transphobic comments about ‘fascist wokery’, and ‘the fascist transgender lobby’.
He also clearly doesn’t support it. Instead, he has decided to speak on behalf of women and feminists worldwide, saying that “that long, hard-fought and very necessary battle cannot come at the expense of another long, hard-fought battle for equality waged by women”.
As a feminist, Piers, I’m here to tell you that we didn’t ask you to do this and would prefer that you (especially you) don’t speak on our behalf.
Back to his argument. He attempts to take on the controversial issue surrounding whether or not transwomen should be allowed to compete in sports against women who identify with the gender that they were assigned at birth based on their sex.
If Biden truly believes in the American dream that everyone is equal then he needs to stand up to the ultra-woke hard-left progressive elements of his party forcing through this obviously unfair agenda and defend the right of women not to see their sport demolished at the altar of political correctness.
There’s that conservative rubbish that we expect from Piers.
To be clear, this issue is a complex one, and one that is under consideration by others far more qualified than Piers, including members of the trans community.
Biden’s policy is a step towards undoing some of the horrifying and discriminatory policies put in place during the Trump administration.
Trans people the world over have had to endure discrimination or mistreatment in education, employment, housing, healthcare, in places of public accommodations, and from law enforcement.
Piers, you really should have sat this one out.
