Pandemic aside, it has been a pretty decent summer.
We haven’t had any Day Zero panic-inspired water restrictions, and the weather has been beach-perfect, albeit a little unbearable at times.
My fan has been working overtime, when Eskom allows, and I’m considering giving it a raise.
Because I wake up early before the heat really kicks in, I get to enjoy that first steaming cup of coffee without suffering, but as the day goes on the battle begins between my need for caffeine and the unpleasantness of drinking something piping hot.
At least, that was my life before I discovered the joy of cold brew.
If you haven’t caught on yet, unlike regular coffee used to make iced coffee, cold brew is never exposed to heat. Cold brew uses time, rather than heat, to extract the coffee’s oils, sugars, and caffeine.
You’re left with a delicious cold drink that satisfies your afternoon (or morning, why not?) caffeine fix so that you can really kick on with the day.
Personally, I recommend checking out the Terbodore Sparkling Cold Brew range.
It ticks a couple of boxes – it’s locally made, and the folks at Terbodore take their eco-friendly packaging very seriously, with Terbodore Sparkling Cold Brew now coming in easily recyclable cans.
It’s also a unique take on a global trend offering delicious and energising flavours like the dry Sparkling Cold Brew: Honeybush and Orange, which boasts a uniquely South African flavour, with a hint of citrus.
If you want something a little zestier, you should try the Sparkling Cold Brew: Lemonade, and my personal favourite, Sparkling Cold Brew: Marula, which is coffee with a hint of that iconic South African fruit that we all know and love.
All three are low-calorie so you can enjoy them guilt-free.
If this trend managed to pass you by, I’m not angry, just disappointed. That said, it’s not too late to make some better life choices.
Stock up online, and have it delivered to wherever you need coffee most.
You can thank us later.
