South Africa’s beaches are once again open to the public, and no, I don’t think it has anything to do with the fiasco that was the Muizenberg beach protest.
All that aside, the sand and seas are available for those looking to make the most out of the last few months of summer before not going out of the house makes sense again.
This past weekend came with some excellent weather, and beachgoers out to enjoy it at Cape Point were met with some unexpected company.
Kayleigh Tuck managed to film a pair of ostriches, who pitched up to take a dip, and posted the video to TikTok:

They look so happy.
Tuck told Business Insider SA that:
“The male ostrich went straight towards the water, while the female just stood on the sand watching. After his ‘dip’, he and his ‘girlfriend’ took a walk along the sand and ended up right in front of us,” she said of the sighting.
They apparently then spotted another ostrich and went off to join it.
They didn’t bother anyone or get in the way.
They just wanted to chill for a second before moving on.
Bless.
