The Handforth Parish Council meeting, which took place on December 10, has quickly become the stuff of legend.
Apologies if you’re only tuning in now, because that sentence will make no sense at all.
Basically, the council meeting descended into anarchy, a bloke called Brian Tolver had a shocker, and Jackie Weaver became an overnight sensation.
Rather than running through why this happened, I’ll plonk the video here. Feel free to skip it if you’re already up to speed.
In the days that followed, the meeting was dissected in great detail, Jackie Weaver appeared on news channels and TV shows to give her side of the story, and remixes and tributes abounded.
To start, the one and only Andrew Lloyd Webber got involved, with The Guardian reporting:
Andrew Lloyd Webber has said his friends in the US think he is “mad” after he created a song about Jackie Weaver, the heroine of the Handforth parish council meeting, which went viral last week.
The impresario has released a musical ode to the chief officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils, inspired by her cool handling of the chaotic Zoom meeting.
Lloyd Webber said he was bored over the weekend, and enlisted the help of singer Carrie Hope Fletcher and lyricist Don Black to put the tribute together:
From flexing your muscles on a local council meeting Zoom call to a tribute from Andrew Lloyd Webber – that’s quite a ride.
Other remixes are a little more doof-doof, like this one, which calls itself the ‘Official Remix’:
House fans, fear not:
I prefer my tributes a little more stripped back.
How about an indie take on things?
We don’t yet have news on whether Netflix has bought the rights to the story, but if they did, a trailer has already been cut:

My money is on Jackie to vanquish them all.
You can find a few more remixes, along with some memes, here.
Oh, and if you’re the sort who snaps up merchandise, there’s plenty of that going around, too.
