Former President Donald Trump’s (second) impeachment trial began yesterday, this time with charges of inciting the attempted insurrection that took place at the Capitol on January 6, after he made false allegations of election fraud.
Things kicked off with a wild 13-minute video outlining some of what happened that day, and chances are it’s only going to get worse for him from there.
If it was anyone else on trial, it would be safe to assume that the headlines would be occupied solely with the events unfolding in the Senate Chamber, and they were until Stormy Daniels reemerged with more sordid tales of that time she and Trump did the deed.
She says, per The Guardian, that she had forgotten some key details about the encounter until her memory was sparked by Bombshell, a film about Roger Ailes’ sexual harassment of women at Fox News.
Ironically, she was telling all of this to Michael Cohen (above, right) on his podcast, Mea Culpa. As Trump’s former lawyer, he had once dedicated his time to trying to silence her.
This is the man she once referred to as “a complete f*cking moron”. They’ve clearly mended some bridges.
On to those details, and you might want to sit down for this.
Daniels says that there are at least 60 seconds of the encounter that she doesn’t remember. She can’t recall how she got from standing in the bathroom doorway to “underneath him on the bed”.
Now she recalls thinking: “I could definitely fight his fat ass, I can definitely outrun him. There’s a bodyguard at the door. But I wasn’t threatened, I was not physically threatened.”
He had apparently told her that he would get her a slot on The Apprentice, and when she tried to sidestep him to get out of the room, he said:
‘This is your chance.’ And I was like, ‘What?’ and he was like, ‘You need to show me how bad you want it or do you just want to go back to the trailer park.’”
She then went to the bathroom and came back to Trump “doing his best yet horrifyingly disturbing impression of Burt Reynolds”, on a bed, clad only in his underwear.
POLITICO reported more details from the interview, including that she called the encounter “the worst 90 seconds of my life, for sure because it just made me hate myself”.
“I’ve been face to face with evil in the most intimate way,” Daniels said. “Demons don’t scare me anymore.”
