Two weekends ago, a large crowd gathered on Muizenberg Beach to protest the beach ban.
Just a few days later, President Ramaphosa held one of those 8PM addresses, and an end to the beach ban was announced, along with the easing of other restrictions like the sale of alcohol.
I would say the Muizenberg Beach protests had very little to do with the easing of those restrictions, but it certainly put some wind in the sails of the organisers, We Are More, or WAM.
On Saturday, protesters headed to Fish Hoek Beach, and it wasn’t long before things turned nasty.
Firstly, eNCA reporter Monique Mortlock detailed her interaction with the leader of the so-called WAM movement, Craig Peiser.
Mortlock alleges that Peiser forcibly removed her mask, after he claimed that he couldn’t hear her speak:
We are on Fish Hoek Beach to cover the #WeAreMore protest against lockdown. But one of the organisers just assaulted me, even with officers around us. He refuses to speak to me because I’m wearing a mask. @eNCA pic.twitter.com/BYx991Qmd0

Don’t touch another person’s face mask. Not now, not ever.
It appears that Peiser was then involved in an altercation with police, arrested, and bundled into the back of a van:

Here’s a tip: WAM (wear a mask) and you won’t get arrested.
Mortlock later confirmed that WAM organisers had released this statement:
Feel free to start using ‘quickly turned to porrage’ in place of of ‘went pear-shaped’ going forward.
In amongst all of that drama, a familiar face popped up.
Last week, we met Chabad De La Fontaine during those Muizenberg Beach protests – here’s a quick refresher:

All it takes is common sense, and a quick look at her LinkedIn profile, to see that she’s talking utter nonsense.
Chabad was also at Fish Hoek Beach, and this time she went full QAnon, cabal-style with her rant:

Honestly, what is it with those hats, beaches, and racist kak? I mean…
Chabad wasn’t the only QAnon fan there:
They claim that leaders of the country are paedophiles. And anyone that wears a mask supports them. #EndLockdownProtest pic.twitter.com/l68he6a2WM

Seems that lady has been watching some of the anti-mask protests from over in the US.
The QAnon conspiracy theory now seems rather deeply embedded in some psyches.
Finally, I don’t know what the collective noun for Karens is, but here they are, in their natural environment, with bonus extra Chabad De La Fontaine footage:

When the rest of the country points at Cape Town and shakes their heads, this is what they’re talking about.
