With a pledge of one piece of pizza to a worthy cause per whole pizza sold, Cape Town’s #1, Butler’s Pizza, ‘didn’t dream’ that they would hit 80 000 pieces of pizza between December 10, 2020, and January 29, 2021.
Oh, they didn’t? I did.
Yup, it looks like the human spirit prevailed and Cape Town came to the party. The Piece Prize Pizza Party Prevailed, to be Precise, Peter.
The only issue is, The Piece Prize closing date was linked to when schools go back, and that’s moved from January 29 to February 15, 2021! What now? Your move, Big Cheeser Bob…
“I don’t see why we shouldn’t press on and go for the big 100 000?”, remarked His Royal Cheeseness, in a very relaxed manner.
He who hath no fear.
With 20 000 pizzas shy of hitting the big 100 000 by the February 15 closing date, this certainly is no walkover. But if it does happen, one or more well-deserving people/organisations are set to be the recipients of 100 000 pieces of pizza.
And who will those recipients be? Well, that depends on the nominations – starting very soon. Watch this space to tell us who you think deserves that precious pie.
Just a side note: Look, that’s all very well, but I’m more concerned about how many of those pizzas sold were The Rotherham pizzas. Aren’t you? I’d bet quite a few of them. Maybe all of them, to be quite honest. Especially seeing as The Rotherham comes with half the normal amount of cheese and thin base (without having to request a thin base).
That’s right… one day all pizzas will be ‘a la Rotherham’.
If they do hit the 100 000 mark, it’s unlikely we’ll ever find out which pizzas were sold to make up that almighty number. Big Cheeser Bob is so caught up by Alfred Nobel and his silly little prize, he’ll probably do the same thing and not tell anyone for 50 years.
I’m getting a little tired of “it’s right up there with the Hawaiian”, to be honest. Especially when nobody in real-life orders pineapple on a pizza.
One thing’s for sure, we will definitely be publishing the winners of those 100 000 pieces of pizza, once nominations start (watch this space).
That’s if they manage to hit that number.
Which I’m sure they will.
Because… you know… The Rotherham.
