‘Ridiculous’, ‘Preposterous’ – Guardian Skewers Travolta Film [Trailer]

Ever heard of Eye for an Eye?

There is a good chance you wouldn’t have, because the film was rebranded to The Poison Rose shortly after its release in 2019, and it also appears to be a pile of shite.

The film has scored a paltry 4,7 om IMDb, so a scathing review on The Guardian doesn’t exactly come as a huge shock.

Ahead of the film’s release on Amazon Prime Video later this week (Friday), it was awarded a single star, and the jibes come thick and fast.

The biggest mystery is the plot, the film is “ridiculous and mostly boring”, and “exhausting to watch”.

Call me a sadist, but I enjoy the sharp barbs of a terrible review. More of that, please:

Travolta goes beyond “world-weary” to give an almost vegetative performance as Carson Phillips, a PI in the poker-playing, bourbon-drinking tradition…

Morgan Freeman plays casino owner Doc, the richest man in town and clearly not to be trusted. (Like everyone else here, Freeman puts his feet up, taking a breather from doing decent acting.)

They even came for Morgan Freeman. Sjoe.

A parting shot before we see the trailer:

It’s a preposterous plot, with a damp-squib ending, and like an episode of Dallas, the dialogue gets phonier and phonier. “This is a bad place. Far worse than you can imagine.”

Ditto the film.

Ouch.

Probably no need to go signing up for Amazon Prime Video in a rush to see this one.
