On Thursday, February 11, at 7:30PM, Qiniso Van Damme will become South Africa’s first Bachelorette.
We can only hope she has more success than Lee ‘I’m feeling a connection’ Thompson, whose relationship was dead in the water by the time the 90-minute season finale wrapped up.
Season two’s Bachelor, Marc Buckner, fared slightly better, and although his relationship with Marisia van Wyk appeared to end last year, they have since patched things up.
So, who will be competing for Qiniso’s heart? Thus far, five of the men have been profiled, and we’ll start with Ten, the chap pictured above.
His profile says Ten is a “Durban-based teacher, he eschews social media and would rather glimpse into the past than the future”.
Alrighty then, here’s his video:
Each man has his own profile on the show’s official site, so here’s a little more about Ten:
He spent 9 years travelling to 90 countries to teach, pray and find love! He wants to share the world and visit his 100th country with that special someone. ..
He considers Qiniso more worldly than most ladies he has met and secretly hopes his confidence and sense of adventure will help him salsa straight into Qiniso’s heart. Ten is a qualified I.T. Trainer and School Teacher specializing in English, Information Technology, Math and recently began modelling overseas.
Next up is Bradley, a banking and insurance professional who “understands money matters”:
More from his profile:
…this confident and mature 29-year-old is also a trained sportsman, avid hip-hop dancer, and overall all-rounder. Bradley is a planner at heart and believes everything should be executed to perfection. He considers himself to be mature and a tad calculated.
When he is not at the office crunching numbers, Bradley travels the world, enjoys exclusive clubs and parties, and also spends time at his portable studio, where he does hip-hop recordings.
Then there’s Dylan, who is “looking for adventure, is expecting surprises, and prefers boeries over burgers”.
Not sure why that matters, but here we are:
From Dylan’s profile:
Dylan is a 29-year-old digital nomad from Cape Town, who lives with eight of his friends in a converted BnB.
Let’s take a moment here – the guy lives in a house (or digs, really) with eight of his friends? Hmmm.
A laidback chameleon with many sides to him, Dylan loves the spotlight. He completed a Business Science degree, however ended up in the music industry.
He’s the first to admit commitment is not his strong suit, however, he acknowledges he needs to stop running and it is now time to find “the one”, a revelation brought on by serious introspection and a lot of alone time.
Call me a cynic, but I get the impression he could be in it to boost his social media presence.
Kganya is an accountant who is “looking forward to fun and adventure, and prefers summer over winter”:
From Kganya’s profile:
Energetic, lively and memorable are just some of the words 23-year-old Kganya uses to describe himself. True to his name, this loveable geek possesses a smile that lights up a room…
He is an extrovert who enjoys going out and having a good time, loves PDA and considers himself to be very sentimental in relationships. He is a peacemaker, a sounding board, energetic and lively!
Finally, there’s Ruan, an architecture student from Bloemfontein, who producers are trying really hard to spin as a Jon Snow lookalike:
From Ruan’s profile:
Bloemfontein native Ruan is an ambitious 26-year-old now based in Pretoria…
He comes from a big family after his parents divorced and one remarried. When he is not running his fledgling construction company, you will find him working towards finishing his Architecture qualification at TUT Pretoria…
He has an Afrikaans accent and comes across as a small-town boy making it in a big city. He has traveled parts of Europe and says he would like to take Qiniso to Italy on a romantic date.
Sounds like he’s keen.
Maybe too keen.
M-Net said it will reveal the rest of the chaps as the date gets closer.
You can keep up to speed here, if you must.
