Now that the hype of the transition of power in America has started to subside, and we can all settle into the welcomed boredom that comes with a ‘regular’ American president, the media is starting to focus on the “important things” like who wore which coat at the inauguration, and what Joe Biden was wearing on his wrist.
Personally, if you’re going to focus on any of the fashion on display, I recommend taking a minute to appreciate Bernie Sanders. You won’t be sorry.
Anyway, while Biden was signing some incredibly important executive orders, Robb Report spotted something shiny poking out of his shirt cuff.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed to be a Rolex Datejust.
The Oystersteel and 18-karat white gold 41 mm model, housing the caliber 3235, boasts 70 hours of power reserve.
It’s mounted on a jubilee bracelet and a sports very presidential blue dial. It comes with the company’s instantly recognizable and magnifying cyclops-lensed date window, to give the president a better view of a day to remember.
That day was the inauguration, by the way.
Biden’s choice of timepiece is in keeping with tradition.
Former presidents like Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Ronald Reagan all wore a Rolex.
There’s even one adorning the wrist of Barack Obama in his official portrait hanging in the National Portrait Gallery.
Biden paired the watch with a blue suit, made for him by Ralph Lauren.
I guess if you’re looking for a watch that speaks to style and power, you can’t go wrong with a Rolex.
It’s already an expensive investment, but if Biden keeps it in good nick, it could be worth a pretty penny one day, as this delighted gentleman found out, when he took his old Rolex to Antiques Roadshow.
It’s worth a watch just to see his reaction.
