We all would have liked January 1, 2021, to wipe the slate clean, but that’s not how the world works.
Back into a lockdown that bans social gatherings and the sale of alcohol, our hospitals and healthcare workers under immense pressure, and all the other stresses haven’t gone away.
For Katlego Maboe, the former face of the OUTsurance ads and former Expresso Morning Show host, 2021 is most certainly not off to a great start.
More from News24:
Maboe…was arrested earlier this month for being in contempt of court, Western Cape police confirmed on Sunday.
“Kindly be advised that a 34-year-old man was arrested on 2 January 2021 in Pinelands for contempt of court and appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on 6 January 2021,” provincial police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut said in a written response to a News24 query.
It is understood that the arrest was in connection with a case involving his ex, Monique Muller, the woman who filmed the infamous video that started it all.
Maboe’s publicist has said that the allegations against him are “false and are an attempt by his former partner to harass and victimise him in order to cause him emotional harm, as well as reputational and economic damage”.
She added that the matter was sub-judice, with lawyer Ellen Louis, on behalf of Maboe, adding that “all parties were warned not to communicate with the press”.
A Rapport story carries further details (read that in full here), including the following:
…Maboe has also allegedly kicked Muller [pictured below] out of their Sea Point flat in Cape Town and apparently stopped paying full rent.
Rapport had also reported that a complaint has been laid against Maboe’s lawyer, Ellen Louis, with South Africa’s Legal Practice Council over alleged text messages from her to Muller’s family.
Family members claim that the messages were hurtful, but Louis says she only requested that Muller’s family ceases contact with her client directly, and rather communicated through lawyers.
The Western Cape branch of the Legal Practice Council is currently investigating the complaint.
According to TimesLIVE, OUTsurance has now permanently replaced Maboe with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp.
