We’re just about wrapping up our first week back on the job.
Well done, us.
I’d like to extend my sincerest sympathies to parents who just found out that the reopening of schools will be pushed back by two weeks, to February 15.
May you find some semblance of peace at home.
If you’re looking for some movie or series ideas, we have a couple below, so let’s get that started with Losing Alice.
Here’s the Apple TV+ synopsis:
In this internationally acclaimed psychological thriller, Alice is a middle-aged film director who feels lost since raising her family. But a chance meeting with Sophie, a femme-fatale screenwriter, takes Alice on an obsessive journey toward success at any cost.
This one is an eight-episode series:
Losing Alice will begin streaming on January 22.
Next up is Supernova, which we have covered before, but is worth revisiting.
This from The Verge:
Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth star as a partners of 20 years traveling across England to visit family and friends. It’s not just a beautiful road trip movie, though; Tucci’s character Tusker has dementia and is slowly losing his memory, so the pair are acutely aware of the value of the time they have left together.
Get ready for a tearjerker, basically:
Supernova is slated to hit US theatres January 29, with a “digital release” on February 16.
Next up is Cherry, starring Tom Holland, who is taking a break from being Spider-Man.
IndieWire reckons it could generate some real Oscar buzz:
Holland plays a U.S. Army medic who returns home to the suburbs of Ohio and develops an opioid addiction while struggling with PTSD. Newcomer Ciara Bravo stars as the wife of Holland’s character, who also becomes an addict. The young couple turn to robbing banks in order to fund their drug habit.
You’ll also see Bill Skarsgård, Jack Reynor, and Forrest Goodluck in this one:
Cherry will be released in US theatres on February 26, and rolled out on Apple TV+ from March 12.
Something to look forward to.
You have yourself have a fine weekend.
