Fancy a guess at which iPhone app was the most downloaded this year?
Remember, it’s 2020, there’s a global pandemic, and folks around the globe are working from home.
No, not Instagram, although I shudder to think about the cumulative global hours spent aimlessly scrolling through posts from people you mostly dislike but follow anyway.
If you guessed Zoom, then well done, you’re on the money.
Here’s Mashable:
The most downloaded free app of 2020 in the U.S. was…ZOOM Cloud Meetings! Pop that bottle of quarantine isolation champagne, because it’s a truly astronomical rise that shows how different 2020 was from past years thanks to the pandemic. Zoom did not even crack Apple’s chart of the top 20 most downloaded free apps last year.
Easy to download, very difficult for your octogenarian parents or grandparents to get the hang of.
You’re still muted, gran.
Apple doesn’t actually share the number of downloads per app, but they do give rankings in order.
Here’s the full top 10 with regards to free apps:
In terms of paid apps, the top 10 is as follows:
Procreate Pocket, you say?
No, it has nothing to do with attempting to fall pregnant, and is an art app one can use to “create expressive sketches, rich paintings, and gorgeous illustrations on an expansive, ultra-portable canvas”.
In terms of iPhone gaming apps, the top three free apps were Among Us!, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Roblox, with the top three paid games being Minecraft, Plague Inc., and Heads Up!.
