For many of us, our introduction to the world of gaming came through the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The game that made the company famous, and ignited a pop culture phenomenon, was, and to some degree still is, Super Mario Bros.
It’s still one of Nintendo’s most popular games and has come a long way since its low pixel days on a plastic cartridge.
Mario, everyone’s favourite plumber, turned 35 this year, and to celebrate the milestone, Nintendo released a number of new games including Super Mario Bros 35, a multiplayer game in which 35 players compete to be the last Mario standing (or jumping).
And, they didn’t stop there.
Nintendo has also teamed up with PUMA to create a line of sneakers and apparel guaranteed to appear on any serious gamer’s Christmas wish-list.
Here’s Gamesradar:
First is the Future Rider Super Mario 64 inspired by Mario’s first 3D adventure.
The upper design is a nod to the iconic red and blue Mario outfit, his Wing Cap and the game’s landscape colour, with a brick detailing on the side.
That’s a classic, followed by the Clyde and RS-Dreamer shoes that pay homage to Super Mario Sunshine and are inspired by the game’s tropical theme.
Both feature details from the water-filled game, including their overall colour scheme.
What started out as the release of a single sneaker has expanded to include a range of apparel featuring Mario himself, and the iconic Super Mario logo.
If you’re looking to level up your wardrobe, head on over to the PUMA website to shop the range online.
Yup, it’s here in South Africa, so pop on a hoodie, and settle in for an afternoon paying tribute to Mario, by jumping on mushrooms and sliding down poles.
