R385 000 Up For Grabs In Photo Of The Year Competition

The 50 finalists in Agora's Best Photo of 2020 competition have been announced, and there's some stiff competition for the top prize.

The image above is titled ‘Sedge Harvest’, taken in Yen province, Vietnam.

It shows farmers harvesting the sedge to be used to weave mats. The photographer, @Hoacarol, associates these mats with their childhood, as every family in Vietnam uses them to sleep on.

It’s one of the top 50 finalists, selected from 35 000 submissions, competing for a $25 000 (around R385 000) prize given to the #BestPhotoOf2020 by mobile app Agora.

Per Forbes, Agora hosts a series of photography competitions throughout the course of the year, but the Best Photo of 2020 is by far the largest.
