The last time we checked in on “Britain’s biggest, bitterest marital breakup”, between Farkhad Akhmedov and his now ex-wife, Tatiana Akhmedova (above), armies of lawyers and advisors were caught in a battle with millions of pounds at stake.
Akhmedova had also dragged her son Temur (below) into the mess, who then turned on her in court.
The case has been ongoing since 2016 when the High Court awarded Akhmedova a record-breaking £453 million (then around R10 billion).
To further complicate things her husband claimed that they had actually divorced in Russia, long before she filed for divorce in Britain.
Oil tycoon Akhmedov, according to The Daily Mail, has also been slow to release the funds and has now been found in contempt of court.
Akmedova has also decided to drag her son back into “Britain’s costliest divorce”, only this time she’s accusing him of helping his father to hide assets from British authorities.
A raid was carried out at Temur’s flat where they found “incriminating documents”.
Mrs Justice Knowles authorised the raid in the hopes of obtaining pertinent information after Temur himself admitted to having destroyed any relevant electronic documents, The Times reported.
Knowles said that there was ‘clear evidence’ that Temur possessed ‘incriminating documents’ and a ‘real possibility’ that he would destroy them if the raid had not been carried out.
Temur doesn’t live in the apartment and had no idea the raid was taking place.
One friend said the luxury flat was left looking ‘like a crime scene.’
Mobile phones, memory sticks and even a Peppa Pig game were seized by the team acting on the orders of the High Court.
The Peppa Pig game is a bit of a twist.
Other assets that were on the line during the divorce proceedings included Farkhad’s mega-yacht, Luna, but he managed to hold onto it after a court in Dubai ruled that Akhmedov was the rightful owner.
While this isn’t quite as scandalous as the Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard saga, the legal costs alone must be through the roof.
Akmedova’s claim against her son is due to begin at the High Court on November 30.
