Until we have a workable, widespread vaccine doing the rounds, wearing a mask is remains a crucial measure to protect ourselves and others from COVID-19.
For those who wear glasses, however, this has posed a bit of a challenge.
Within seconds of popping on the mask, your glasses have completely misted up, and the world is even more of a foggy mess than it is when you’ve tried to go about your business without them.
Not even squinting helps.
A few hacks have done the rounds including using an anti-fog spray, folding the top of the mask, or using a bit of tissue to form a barrier, but the latest one, tweeted by Dr Daniel Heiferman, might actually work.
If you’re having a hard time with glasses fogging or keeping your mask up over your nose, a simple bandaid does wonders. Learned it in the OR.

Yep, just pop a plaster (or a band-aid as they call it in the US) over the spot where the top of your mask meets your nose.
Lifehacker tested it out.
Our social editor Tim Mulkerin tested this hack, putting a band-aid on a cloth mask. “It works very well,” he reported. The band-aid closes the gaps that would normally appear where your mask meets the sides of your nose.
The only flaw in the plan was that Tim’s glasses, when resting on the plaster, had a tendency to slide down. This can be solved by choosing a plaster with a bit of grip like the fabric ones.
While you could also use tape, Dr Heiferman says that the cotton pad on a plaster is less likely to irritate your skin if you’re using it on a daily basis.
As an added bonus, if you’re someone who struggles to keep your mask above your chin, it helps to stop it from sliding down.
Problem solved.
