The year will be gone before we blink. And yes, we’re all dealing with more than we could imagine. Between COVID-19 and a new US president, let alone the local carnival of local politics, it is hard to escape the chaos. And so we turn to music.
It’s quite common for revellers at any particular shindig to call upon me to play one of my always-fresh mixes. And, as usual, I step in and kill, with many women throwing themselves at me and hosts thanking me for ‘saving the day’. If only they knew my little secret.
Wanna know?
Here it is – I subscribe to Rob Cohen’s Spotify playlists. He releases a new one every month. And I tell you what, Rob’s not shy to throw in some remixed old-school grooves. It’s all so versatile – you can play this stuff on a Sunday morning with a joint, or at a dinner / house party.
‘Robbo November’ is an absolute triumph and truly on point. Although I often dial back to Robbo October and Robbo August.
Who is Rob Cohen, you might ask? Well, not much is known about him – seems to be something of a mysterious figure. We know he lives on Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard and that he works in finance – whatever that means. But more than that, one couldn’t say. One thing’s for sure – the guy is lifting 2020’s spirits, like a conductor at Royal Albert Hall.
Do yourself a favour and follow Rob Cohen on Spotify (here). Get those grooves pumping, and next time you find yourself at a drab dinner party, just enjoy that moment you save the day.
Very soon you’ll have a cult-like following and everyone will wonder how you do it. Then maybe you too can pass on the secret.
