Pitchforks aren’t new to angry Trump supporters.
Before the 2016 election, following Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the election was rigged against him (if only), a prominent Milwaukee sheriff tweeted that it was “pitchforks and tiki torches time”, with preparations in place to start “a revolution” if Hillary Clinton took office.
And, let’s not forget the horrendous events that played out in Charlottesville.
Fast forward to 2020, and Trump was, and is, once again moaning about a ‘rigged election’, so naturally the tiki torches, guns, and pitchforks are back.
Prior to the announcement that Joe Biden had won, Trumpians were already getting riled up as the margin narrowed between the president and his opponent.
In Philadelphia on November 6, two armed men were caught in a Hummer, who were allegedly planning an attack on the Pennsylvania Convention Centre where votes were being counted.
Another man was spotted, tiki torch and pitchfork in hand (see above).
Following reports that Biden would become the 46th president of America, people took to the streets in a number of states, changing their rallying cry from “stop the count!” (or “count the votes!”, it was confusing), to “stop the steal!”.
Amidst the celebrations, the country also braced for violence from supporters who couldn’t get to grips with the election results, says USA TODAY, especially after Trump’s statement that he would be digging his heels in.
“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: They don’t want the truth to be exposed,” Trump said in a statement after the race was called.
“The simple fact is this election is far from over.”
You can read that statement in full here.
Check out some of those ‘stop the steal!’ protests in different states:
Trump supporters have also started an online petition calling for a “recount or revote”, which suggests that they want a do-over.
This was an election, not an Etch A Sketch. Sorry.
Perhaps even sadder than the petition was a woeful rendition of Queen’s ‘We are the Champions’, by Trump supporters after Biden was declared president-elect on Saurday:
It’s so awkward.
Oh, and let’s take a minute to enjoy the manic laughter of televangelist Kenneth Copeland, in response to the media’s declaration of the election results:

You’re doing so well, sweetie. Just breathe.
Almost as well, some might argue, as Trump’s spiritual adviser, who started speaking in tongues as the votes rolled in.
It’s going to be a tough road ahead for those still backing Trump and his baseless claims about voter fraud.
In the interim, while his campaign continues to mount countless legal battles, let’s watch Joe Biden’s speech again:
