Everyone’s Talking About This Unknown 24-Year-Old Actress Who Duped Rudy Giuliani

The previously unknown Bulgarian actress has risen to prominence following her appearance in the now infamous Rudy Giuliani scene from the 'Borat' sequel.

Borat Sagdiyev is back, and he couldn’t have come at a better time.

When the first film was released in 2006, the world became familiar with the now iconic, well-meaning but wildly inappropriate reporter from Kazakhstan, whose obscene humour led to some pretty uncomfortable conversations about America.

Since then, the country has been doing the dirty work all on its own. It’s tough to ignore the once simmering below the surface, now overtly apparent issues in America.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s upcoming Borat Subsequent Moviefilm generated some serious press this week with a clip from the film in which former New York mayor, and current Donald Trump personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani is seen reaching into his trousers and allegedly touching himself while on a bed in the presence of the actress playing Borat’s daughter, Tutar.

Giuliani is very upset by all of this and claims that he was just tucking his shirt in. I don’t know why he has to lie down to tuck his shirt in.

Now, the actress, Maria Bakalova (below), is all anyone can talk about, according to Glamour.

The 24-year-old was born in Burgas in Bulgaria. She recently moved to Los Angeles, where she has lived for less than a year.

Tutar is not her first role, and she has been acting for years in her home country, along with being a trained musician.

Borat is not her first brush with politics, either:

Back in July, Bakalova shared a post in solidarity with Bulgarians protesting against government corruption and the country’s mishandling of the pandemic.

Thousands of people packed the center of Sofia in what is being dubbed a “grand national uprising” to demand the resignation of both Borissov and the country’s chief prosecutor, Ivan Geshev,” Politico reported in September.

The demonstrations are still going on, surpassing the 100 day mark.

She additionally expressed solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.

As for Giuliani – following his angry denials of the way that he is portrayed in the film, Borat issued a response (‘official statement’) ‘defending’ him:

Yeah, Giuliani is the gift that keeps on giving.

Very niiiiice.
