If you thought your job was tough, read on.
Long-distance truckers have a notoriously difficult time out on the road – long hours and very little sleep, topped with the responsibility of moving cargo from one point to the next without incident.
One driver, in particular, deserves a Bell’s (once he’s off duty, of course).
In two videos published on SA Trucker’s Twitter account, the man in question starts his journey in high spirits, driving along a seemingly deserted stretch of road in the KwaZulu-Natal region.
He has his music on, he’s jamming, and it looks like a good time.
Then, reports The Citizen, his facial expression changes, before he ducks as bullets are fired, hitting the side of his truck, with one piercing the window, narrowly missing his head.
The split-screen shows footage from inside the truck, as well as from a dashcam facing out towards the road.
If you pay attention to the bottom part of the screen, you’ll see the gunmen appear and the driver realise what’s happening:
He didn’t panic, and he didn’t crash the truck.
Instead, he kept driving until he reached the Ladysmith police station to report the incident.
Impressive doesn’t quite cover it.
He deserves a raise.
