My sincere apologies for the image above, which features more crotch than is ideal.
It’s Borat, though, and crotch shots have become a central part of Sacha Baron Cohen’s character, so don’t be too hard on me.
14 years after his big-screen debut in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, the fictional television journalist is back with Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
Interesting fact – the 2006 film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay, but lost out to The Departed, which seems fair.
For some fun and games, let’s use the new Borat write-up from Vulture:
It is most pleased for us to be announcing the trailing picture of the tall imposter, Sacha Baron Cohen, as he makes joke of America in Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm.
In the follow-up, 14 years after the original, Borat is returning to America to try to place his daughter (played by Maria Bakalova, according to the Illuminerdi) in Trump’s corrupt regime by giving her away to Mike Pence.
But Borat is as popular as his catchphrases here, so Cohen puts on disguises on top of disguises as he pretends to be “an American.”
Along the way, he skewers fraudulent anti-abortion “women’s-health centers,” the Republican response to the coronavirus, and apparently Pence himself.
Sometimes, the jokes really do write themselves.
Alright, let’s dive in:
It will be hard to top the absurdity of his 2018 show, Who is America?, but I have faith.
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm will be on Amazon Prime Video from October 23.
