On November 3, America will vote for its next president.
The recent presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump showed just how low the bar has sunk, but along comes the next scandal and everybody moves on.
It should be pointed out that there is little to no chance that a winner will be declared in the days following November 3, because results will be contested and the Republican machine will go into overdrive to try and cling to power by whatever means necessary.
That’s just one of the reasons Trump and his pals are trying to ram through the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett to the US Supreme Court before the end of his term.
John Oliver knows this all too well, and the election was the main topic of discussion on the most recent episode of Last Week Tonight:
Weeks out from the 2020 presidential election, John Oliver takes a look at various efforts to destabilize the vote, how to ensure your ballot is properly counted, and why we may need to prepare not just for an election night, but for an election month.
It will drag on, it will get uglier and uglier, and the rest of the world will watch on open-mouthed at how a superpower descended into such a farce.
