There’s nothing like a chilled bike ride with your mates to take the edge off a long week.
Add some nature into the mix and you’re sorted.
When I say ‘add some nature’, under normal circumstances, I’m referring to the scenery, not the wildlife.
Daniel Sass was cycling with his friends through Cape Point National Park when they were put through their paces by an unlikely addition to the group.
Per The Daily Mail, Sass says “as we rolled through the hills and took in all the beauty we noticed a strange bird running with the peloton”.
Sass is taking a little poetic license in that description, The bird isn’t strange – it’s an ostrich. We’ve all seen one.
“I then realised that an ostrich was chasing down our strongest rider, Ben. Nobody can catch Ben. But then I thought “wow have you seen the quads on that ostrich!”.
Never skip leg day.
Sass captured the whole thing on video, which he uploaded to Facebook on September 14.
Behold the quads on the ostrich:
Sass says he was in “absolute awe of [the ostrich’s] awkward running style”.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time that an ostrich has joined cyclists on a ride through Cape Point.
The bird eventually ran out of energy and went off to do whatever it is that ostriches do after a race.
Maybe it hit up the nature equivalent of a coffee shop to bother the other animals with its post-cycle musk.
