The man above, 35-year-old Zimbabwean Blessing Bveni, has been dubbed the ‘Table Mountain Killer’.
His trial resumes in the Cape Town high court on October 12, having been pushed back a week from today, where he is facing charges that include murder, attempted murder, aggravated robbery, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
It’s alleged that between October 2017 and March 2018, Bveni carried out at least five attacks on the fringes of Table Mountain National Park, focused largely on trails above Kalk Bay.
Earlier this year, we detailed those alleged crimes, but now TimesLIVE’s Anthony Molyneaux has pieced together how the state alleges Bveni operated, and how SANParks master tracker Sergeant Minye helped catch the suspect.
Sadly, nothing will bring back Doug Notten or Ian McPherson, but the state believes that the mountains will be a safer place with Bveni behind bars:
