Yesterday, September 22, at around 2PM in the afternoon, motorists on the N2 highway in Cape Town were confronted with a troubling scene as a man, holding on to a bridge over the highway, appeared to be trying to end his life.
The incident, caught on video, showed concerned citizens blocking the carriageway to prevent further harm to both the person clinging to the bridge and fellow motorists below, should things go south.
Meanwhile, law enforcement on the scene, along with civilians, sprang into action to help the man from atop the bridge.
Per Cape Town Etc, the people below and above tried to convince the man to hang on, while those at the top held onto him to prevent him from letting go.
