OJ Simpson’s car chase back in 1994, when he drove his white Ford Bronco truck through southern Los Angeles, is probably the most famous car chase of all.
Here’s the thing – it wasn’t exactly high-speed, and ended without a serious showdown, as Simpson emerged from his vehicle, holding family photos in his hand, and surrendered to police.
For sheer drama, I would recommend a recent chase “between the South African Police Service Tactical Response Team’s helicopter, Ford ST, a motorbike and a white Nissan 1400”, reports the Citizen.
Certain details are still unconfirmed, but it’s believed the chase took place in Soshanguve, about 30 kilometres north of Pretoria, along the R80 highway.
This video, showing the drama of the chase via footage from an SAPS helmet-mounted camera, features a man firing a gun from his motorbike, a chopper in hot pursuit, and the eventual surrender of the driver of the Nissan:
It looks like something out of Grand Theft Auto. Pretty intense, right?
Props to the police for apprehending the suspect. Now, can they show the same passion for prosecuting those responsible for state capture?
