I was strongly considering a joke about how Cheslin Kolbe’s feet are so electric that they could power us through load shedding, but you deserve better than that.
Yesterday, the man English journalist Owen Slot rated as the sixth best player in the world once again put on a masterclass, as his Toulouse outfit ran out 36-8 winners over Ulster in the Heineken Champions Cup.
He scored twice inside the first half, but there were other moments of brilliance, too, which outline why he really is the complete package.
Don’t forget that this is a guy who stepped up to play flyhalf earlier in the year when needed, and immediately looked right at home.
RugbyPass points out that after the match, Cheslin was his usual modest self, saying “Scoring tries is always great, it is the cherry on top of the cake, but I must give credit to my team-mates. Without them, wingers are nothing.”
He’s not wrong, but there aren’t many, if any, wingers who can so consistently beat defenders when getting the ball with little to no space to work in.
Here’s a great compilation video of Cheslin in action, with some French flair in the commentary box:
If you want Cheslin’s opening two tries with English commentary, which is almost as enthusiastic as their French counterparts, see below:
To cap off his all-round performance, Cheslin even plucked one out of the air from the kick-off.
See the second video below:
Kolbe is a restart specialist too.
Has slotted in at number eight on scrum plays for Toulouse before. Has had starts at 10 and 15 also.
He’s still only 26! pic.twitter.com/gs5miHU5mT

Yes, he’s only 26.
Enjoy day 321 of 1 449 as world champions.
