As we tick off the weeks in September, you may start hearing the saying that summer bodies are made in the colder months that come before.
I tend to judge people who say that rather harshly, but they have a point, which is that there’s no time like the present to start working on your health goals.
The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed the fitness industry landscape over the past few months, however, and for many, the idea of heading to a busy gym, or carrying on with their usual exercise regime, is no longer feasible.
Companies have had to find creative, safe solutions to this problem, and Ideas Cartel has carved a niche with its hygiene-checked, private fitness pods available at its 113 Loop Street buildings.
Dubbed ‘FitPods’, they’ve been a massive hit with struggling fitness professionals and exercise enthusiasts alike, with bookings made per hour session, between the hours of 6AM and 7PM daily.
You can find out the prices, and look at the various membership options, here.
The FitPods have proven so popular that Ideas Cartel is now extending the offering to The Old Foundry in Green Point.
Here’s Schuyler Vorster, Idea Cartel’s founder and CEO:
“Even before the pandemic, we saw a rise in the demand for more ‘hybrid’, multifunctional indoor areas that could elevate the workspace, our members’ creativity, productivity, and activity. The demand for more active and inspiring environments outside of the home was becoming more prominent.
The FitPods have enabled us to think further than what COVID-19 and government regulations have enabled us to do, physically. We are rapidly moving towards a new way of interacting which requires an adapted system beyond conventional spaces.”
Ideas Cartel was established seven years ago at 71 Waterkant Street, and has since expanded to Loop Street, Green Point, and, more recently, Muizenberg, after taking over the management of the historic Casa Labia. There are are also plans to potentially expand to Johannesburg and Durban in the next few years.
At The Old Foundry, you can now book a stay in one of their hotel rooms, have a drink at the Frontier Bar, and crack a workout the next morning.
Your room, if you book the master suite:
The Frontier Bar (below) is an absolute beauty, and is limited to members during business hours. From 5PM each weeknight, Ideas Cartel invites locals and Cape Town visitors to join in the fun, and on Thursdays, they host a resident DJ evening with selected drinks offerings.
That kicks off from 4PM.
Not at all shabby.
Ideas Cartel services and facilities, including meeting rooms, workspaces, FitPods, showers, valet parking (currently at 113 Loop Street), and indoor sports activities and event tickets can be booked via Cartel Connect Online (App Store and Google Play).
Club memberships can be secured using the app and by enquiring on the website, and discounted rates are offered for selected facility bookings and online store orders.
If you want to see the hotel accommodation available, and for more information, visit the Ideas Cartel website.
