Baden Powell Drive is quickly gaining notoriety as a dumping ground for the bodies of murder victims.
Less than three weeks ago, three bodies, all in an advanced state of decomposition, were found in the bushes between the Wolfgat Nature Reserve and Strandfontein Pavilion.
The first was a woman who had been decapitated. Two days later, the bound bodies of a man and a woman were found near the first crime scene.
Police have now discovered two more people, in separate incidents on the same stretch of road, reports News24.
On Sunday, September 13, a man was found at around 9AM. He had been shot in the head, but survived and was taken for treatment.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
On Monday, September 14, just a day later, a woman’s body was found, shot in the head and body.
EWN with police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana:
“Police responded to the crime scene at Baden Powell Drive. They found the female she was wearing a grey shorts with brown stockings underneath, white T-shirt and a black and yellow track top. No one has been arrested.”
A murder investigation is underway.
The area has become so dangerous that the SAPS has started to perform routine sweeps to uncover any bodies or victims dumped along the road.
When told of the latest bodies found, Judy Schuter of the Strandfontein Community Policing Forum (CPF) simply said, “Oh God, again!”
Residents and police alike in Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha, and Strandfontein are calling on the government to make some sort of plan to deal with the extreme violence in the area.
As the bodies pile up, people are becoming increasingly desperate for protection and justice.
