Last month we found out that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is being flipped-turned upside down by a mock trailer that’s sparked a serious retelling of the classic 90s sitcom.
The trailer, created by Morgan Cooper, amassed millions of views, eventually catching the attention of Will Smith, who describes it as “brilliant”.
Cooper and Smith are teaming up to make it a reality, but that’s not the only collaboration that has made headlines this year.
The cast of the original series are celebrating the show’s 30th anniversary (feel old yet?), with Smith acting as Airbnb host to the iconic mansion, where it all played out, in October.
Over five nights, two Los Angeles residents (unfortunately no one outside of LA can apply) will be able to stay in Smith’s wing of the mansion.
According to the Airbnb listing, which was evidently penned by the Fresh Prince himself, here’s what guests can expect:
It’s your crib for the night, so feel free to act like you own the place. My wing of the mansion includes my bedroom (great for naps), a full bathroom (great for spitting bars in the shower), pool area (great for dips), an outdoor lounge, and the dining room (great for eating obviously). And you gotta do it like my guy DJ Jazzy Jeff so don’t forget your sunglasses!
During their stay, guests will also indulge in a “few royal perks”, including lacing up a pair of Jordans and shooting some b-ball in the bedroom (yes, the bedroom), spinning throwback classics on DJ Jazzy’s turntables, choosing and wearing clothes from Smith’s wardrobe on the show, hanging out at the pool, and enjoying pre-prepared meals “served on a silver platter, of course”.
One night in Will’s bedroom will set you back $30 (more or less R500), and it’s being offered on October 2, 5, 8, 11, and 14.
The staycation was officially announced on Smith’s Instagram:
Bookings open on September 29, and I’m expecting the traffic to crash Airbnb’s website.
