Over the years, many people have commented on how Donald Trump doesn’t enjoy reading books, including his own sister.
She also said the current US president has ‘no principles’ and ‘you can’t trust him’, which are sentiments echoed by Trump’s niece.
Somebody inside the White House should have done some reading, though, and in particular, Bob Woodward’s Fear: Trump in the White House.
That book came out in 2018 and was highly critical of Trump, yet somehow the president and many of his closest advisors agreed to be interviewed for Woodward’s latest book, simply titled Rage.
In taped interviews from February and March, Trump admitted that he repeatedly downplayed the threat of COVID-19 in public, despite knowing the virus was far more dangerous than he was telling Americans.
As a result, America’s response to the pandemic has been divided and inept, with the US recording in excess of 195 000 deaths.
In a recent The Daily Show recording, Trevor Noah takes a closer look at what Trump’s recording say about his attitude towards the people he governs, as well as a look at the Justice Department’s decision to take over Trump’s defence in a defamation suit from E. Jean Carroll, who has accused him of rape.
Take it away, Trevor:
