My favourite view of Hout Bay is from the vantage point at the end of the Chapman’s Peak hike, where you look down over the bay.

Back when we had actual tourists in this country, there was the added bonus that it was far quieter than the main Chapman’s Peak lookout point, which was often rammed with tour buses and wannabe influencers.

Tourists, hey – remember them?

From time to time, I like to check in on some of the bay’s finer property listings (we can dream), and this listing from Ruyteplaats caught my eye.

Property24 says the five-bedroom, R25 million house comes with a Tesla Powerwall, which stores solar electricity and can provide power for around seven hours.

Always a nice touch when load shedding looms large, for at least the next few years.

R25 million is perhaps a touch expensive for my blood, so it’s hiking on Chappies for the time being.
