Before we dive into this one, you should know that the three-year-old girl who was lifted into the air emerged unharmed.
She also emerged with a story to tell for the rest of her life, and video footage to prove that she isn’t talking nonsense.
During a kite festival on Sunday in the seaside town of Nanliao, near Hsinchu City, in Taiwan, the girl became entangled in the strings of a giant kite, before being hoisted into the air.
According to the Guardian, a local government bureaucrat, Zhang Li Ke, said the strong winds had caused the tail of the kite to wrap around the girl’s stomach.

The Guardian also shared this footage, from a different angle:
The mayor of Hsinchu city, Lin Chih-chien, issued a public apology following the incident:
Chen Ko-fang, secretary-general of the Taiwan-based Asian Kite Forum, said the kite was supposed to scatter lollies from the sky for children to catch below…
Chen said children were usually kept at a distance until the kite was in the air, but organisers weren’t expecting the sudden gusts, reported to have been a level seven on the Beaufort scale – or around 50-60km per hour.
Do we have an African Kite Forum?
Anyway, we’re just happy the girl emerged unscathed.
