You might not know the name Lebogang Khitsane, but his tombstones have become the stuff of legend.
He was even featured in a BBC video segment back in 2018, largely off the back of the attention that came from the truly unique tombstone he created for South African TV legend, Joe “Sdumo” Mafela.
TV, couch, coffee table – this one was out there.
Sadly, Khitsane passed away last Thursday due to renal failure, and a memorial service took place over the weekend.
Many speakers praised Khitsane as a business maverick, and his daughters spoke fondly of their father, but it was Khitsane’s sister, Semati Moedi, who stole the show when she went off way off-script.
Via eNCA, here’s footage from the service, with Moedi appearing around the 2:05 mark:
Like most people, I did not see that coming.
It is not known whether Khitsane’s wife was in attendance at the memorial service. The funeral will take place on Tuesday.
